Indy Music Unite!

Group Research Project

During the first semester of my senior year we worked on a group research project called IMU! or Indy Music Unite! The research process we used was Analysis, Synthesis, and Evaluation. During Analysis we researched local music production and marketing in Indianapolis by interviewing independent local musicians and industry professionals from local record labels. After identifying some problems within the context such as bad communication between artists, no real collaboration taking place, and a lack of resources we had several ideation sessions during the Synthesis phase to generate ideas for a solution. After all was said and done our solution was to create a non profit organization to help musicians build community by offering several services such as music mentoring, community shows, etc. We built out an organization map that included services, a user experience map, and a mission/vision. We received awesome feedback and support during the evaluation phase and the overall project was a success.
